Mr. Pizarro is a Senior Product Manager for AST Environmental, Inc. He is a Certified Professional Geologist and has 18 years of experience in environmental applications, specifically fractured bedrock characterization; contaminant transport studies; permeable reactive barrier (PRB) design; and reagent bench-scale testing and design for environmental sites and industrial process waste streams. Derek has contributed to the testing and selection of contaminant remedies for multiple CERCLA sites, projects under the Pennsylvania Act 2 land recycling program, and hundreds of privately funded cleanups.
Previously, Derek served as General Manager and Environmental Products Director for a chemical manufacturer, developing chemistries for treatment of inorganic contaminants, sediment applications, and injectates for use in PRBs. He is responsible for creating a novel product used in the remediation of dredged sediments impacted with late-transition and post-transition heavy metals, making them directly suitable for non-hazardous landfilling or onsite disposal. Derek received a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Environmental Geosciences from Lafayette College in 2004.

Mr. Thacker is a Senior Geologist for AST Environmental, Inc. Nathan manages most of the company’s injection remediation projects along the East Coast. After earning his BS in Geology from the University of Kentucky, he worked as a field geologist and project manager at other companies before finding the great mix of innovative remediation technologies and down-to-earth colleagues at AST. He enjoys working in the field and creating effective designs for remediation projects, as well as working with field-based partners and coworkers to share AST’s successes at national and international conferences.

Mr. Geary has over twenty-nine years of experience in the environmental construction industry, ranging from his role as a site superintendent for one of the nation’s largest remedial construction firms to managing a remediation estimating department and serving as Vice President of a mid-sized environmental consulting firm.
Geary brings together a strong, diverse background in applied environmental sciences and extensive knowledge of local state and federal regulations. He has served as a member of the Brownfield Action Committee (BAC) for The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) and presented technical papers and case studies at many local and national conferences. His practical field experience and knowledge of local markets will provide for superior service to our valued customers.

Lydia Ross, PE is a remediation engineer and project manager with over 18 years of diverse remediation experience in the environmental industry encompassing consulting, technology supply, and non-profit leadership. Lydia has worked for a broad range of commercial and government clients across the United States and internationally. She specializes in full life-cycle design and implementation of soil and groundwater remedial technologies including air sparge (AS), soil vapor extraction (SVE), pump and treat (P&T), in situ chemical oxidation and reduction (ISCO/ISCR), multi-phase extraction (MPE), source removal, and enhanced in situ bioremediation (EISB). Her project roles have included: site characterization; pilot test design and implementation; remediation system design, permitting, construction oversight, startup, and operation and maintenance; project management; procurement; and stakeholder engagement. Lydia excels in engaging multidisciplinary teams, cultivating mutually beneficial relationships through a solutions-focused approach, and adapting communication styles to resonate with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.

Lydia is further engaged in the industry serving on the Board of Directors for Groundwater Professionals of North Carolina. She earned an M.S. in Engineering Management from Florida International University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.

Mary Katherine Stukes is head of the firm’s Environmental practice.
